Dear Family and Friends,
As I reflect on this Christmas season, I think of the thousands of families I've walked alongside over forty years of being a pediatrician—families who many times told their children they are broken, disordered, deficient. This Christmas, I want to share a reflection titled "The FastBraiin Savior," and I believe it carries a message for many of us.
When I look at Jesus Christ in the Gospels, I see so many characteristics I call FastBraiin. A Savior who felt deeply—who wept at a friend's tomb. A Teacher who told vivid, unforgettable stories instead of boring lectures. A Man who focused with such intensity that forty days in the wilderness couldn't break His resolve. Someone who thought so brilliantly under pressure that His opponents couldn't trap Him. A boundary-breaker who touched lepers, befriended outcasts, and was constantly in motion bringing Good News to everyone who would listen.
My message this Christmas is simple: No one is ever broken unless by sin. If you feel too intensely, think too creatively, move too quickly, or empathize too deeply—you are not defective. The very characteristics that make life challenging were present in abundance in the Savior Himself.
If you're a parent or grandparent of a FastBraiin child, take heart. That intensity you see? Jesus had it. That creativity that makes school hard? Jesus taught that way. That deep feeling heart? Jesus wept. I invite you to read the enclosed reflection and share it with someone who needs to hear it.
From my family to yours, Merry Christmas. May you see your unique mind and your child or grandchild’s mind as the gift it truly is—a reflection of the passionate, creative, empathic Savior who came to make all things new.
With warmth and gratitude,
Jim and Lillian Poole

P.S. Every FastBraiin child fidgeting through church this Christmas is in good company. The One whose birth we celebrate understood exactly what that feels like.
